HoMie is a streetwear clothing social enterprise.
HoMie envisions an Australian society free of homelessness. Its primary mission is to build confidence and provide job skills for young people, and, in doing so, create unique pathways out of homelessness and hardship.
In the last four years, the team has transformed their vision into ‘HoMie’ from an ethical and sustainable Australian-made brand, into something much greater, now with a flagship store in Fitzroy, Melbourne.
HoMie proudly helps by using 100% of its profits to provide brand-new clothing, training and job opportunities to young people affected by homelessness or hardship through HoMie’s Pathway Alliance program and VIP Shopping Days.
The HoMie Pathway Alliance is HoMie’s own accredited retail training and education program for young people aged 18-25 who are affected by homelessness or hardship. Every year, HoMie selects young people from one of our partnered Alliance Support Services to participate in an eight-month paid on-the-job work experience at the HoMie Street Store or a HoMie Alliance trained business. Upon successful completion of the paid HoMie Pathway Alliance internship, HoMie interns will graduate with a Certificate III in Retail, six-months retail work-experience, eight months personal development training to build improved confidence, resilience, self-aspirations and life-skills, and a permanent place in our HoMie Alumni community.
On VIP Shopping Days, HoMie closes the doors of its store to the public and people experiencing homelessness are invited into HoMie with a partner service to be our VIP Customers. These people each receive five free items of brand-new clothing to choose at their discretion, grooming, food/refreshments, and a friendly chat with our team of staff and volunteers. Apart from providing clothing, HoMie VIP Shopping Days aim to increase feelings of social connectedness, and also bring our VIPs into contact with the broader HoMie support network.
