The Elsewhere Co. is a luxury brand with a clear vision: to inspire independent freedom seekers around the world to escape the everyday.
With a strong design ethos that rejects all that is ordinary, lacklustre and thoughtlessly produced (because quite frankly the world has seen enough of this!), The Elsewhere Co. offers truly original travel and lifestyle accessories that are exceptional in their ability to balance contrasts - luxurious yet sustainable, practical yet beautiful, timeless yet unapologetically bold.
Sustainability is a key focus for the label, with innovative use of RCS 100 certified upcycled leather, natural fabrics and artisan materials at the heart of their design philosophy.
The Elsewhere Co. is passionate about creating luxury accessories with honest consideration for people and the planet. Here’s how…
GIVING NEW LIFE TO WASTE
The Elsewhere Co. uses premium RCS 100 certified upcycled leather, an innovative new material, which minimises waste and has low environmental impact. It is proudly sustainable, yet retains the beautiful look and feel of traditional leather. Upcycled leather directly saves large volumes of waste from reaching landfill, with a single product saving up to 200grams of waste. Most notably, the production process itself creates zero manufacturing material waste.
Each accessory comes sustainably packaged in their signature reusable dust bags made from 30% upcycled cotton.
Within the first six months of launching, The Elsewhere Co. has already saved approximately 148kg of leather waste and 32kg of cotton waste from reaching landfill!
The Elsewhere Co. are always thoughtful in the quantities they produce and off-cut waste from their leather goods manufacturing is used to make zipper pullers and brand badges.
Now more than ever, it is vital that the world’s water supply is protected and used responsibly. The Elsewhere Co. is focused on reducing its impact on water resources through the use of upcycled leather. Its production process uses 90% less water, compared to conventional leather production.
RECYCLING WITH PASSION
The Elsewhere Co. proudly uses recyclable tissue paper packaging (no bubble wrap, plastic or Styrofoam. Yuck!) The tissue paper and paper stickers are completely acid-free, FSC certified and use soy-based inks. All information cards and marketing material is recyclable and they use plant-based compostable mailers. They also offer beautiful gift-wrapping, which is produced locally in Melbourne from unbleached kraft paper and is 100% recyclable. Through their packaging partner, they are part of the eco-packaging alliance in which a tree is planted in an area of need each time they order packaging materials.
KEEPING IT NATURAL
When sourcing materials, The Elsewhere Co. is committed to using natural materials whenever possible. Their products are predominantly produced from upcycled leather (made from natural components - genuine leather fibres, rubber, water and pigments) and you can be assured that no harmful dyes or chemicals are used in its production. They also use biodegradable materials such as hand-woven 100% pure silk, 100% cotton and upcycled cotton.
SAYING GOODBYE TO PLASTIC PACKAGING
The Elsewhere Co. is committed to a world without single-use plastic. Each product is packaged responsibly without plastic, and instead, reusable upcycled cotton dust bag, recyclable tissue paper and compostable mailers are used.
THOUGHTFUL DESIGN WITH IMPACT
The Elsewhere Co. believes in design that’s extraordinary, original and sustainable.
They’re committed to sourcing sustainable materials without compromising on luxury, style or quality and design with durability in mind to ensure a long life cycle. Their design aesthetic is timeless yet bold, they don’t work to fast fashion trends and collections are carefully considered and released slowly (not seasonally).
The Elsewhere Co’s innovative leather accessories have been consciously designed to use as little new material (linings etc) as possible to ensure the majority of the products are upcycled. The passport holder from their latest collection is made entirely from upcycled leather with the exception of the stitching and press stud. They emboss directly onto the leather and use recyclable paper information cards, instead of adding fabric or metal product labels.
The Elsewhere Co. accessories are designed to be multi-functional, saving the need to carry multiple products. Their accessories promise to keep you organised for many years to come, saving you time, making your every day easier and helping you steal more moments of freedom to pursue an adventurous life.

+ Recycled and circular
The Elsewhere Co. believe that luxury doesn’t have to cost the earth. That’s why they've chosen to use premium quality upcycled leather, a natural material which has low environmental impact. It's proudly sustainable, yet retains the beautiful look and feel of traditional leather. This innovative material saves large volumes of leather offcuts from reaching landfill, with a single product saving up to 200 grams of waste.
The Elsewhere Co.'s upcycled leather is sustainable, RCS 100 certified and made from fully traceable genuine leather offcuts (waste from the production of leather gardening gloves, otherwise destined for landfill). The offcuts are shredded into fibres, bound together with natural rubber, pigment and water (all-natural substances, non-toxic, no nasties!) and then reformed into new sheets of quality upcycled leather.
The production process itself creates zero material manufacturing waste and uses 90% less water than conventional leather production processes. Upcycled leather also produces up to 60% fewer chemical emissions than leather tanning processes.
Passionate about keeping waste out of landfill, they will take back any Elsewhere Co. product that reaches its end-of-life or is no longer wanted as part of their recycling program. These items will either be repaired as second-hand goods for sale or donation, disassembled for recycling or re-made into something new.
+ Social enterprise
For every sale made, The Elsewhere Co. donates $1 to Greening Australia to support their revegetation work in places like The Great Barrier Reef, Tasmania's Island Ark and their nationwide bushfire recovery program.
