Forget what you know about luxury hotels and submerse yourself in tranquillity at 28 Degrees Byron Bay. Conveniently located only five minutes from the centre of town and Byron Bay’s beautiful white beaches, this $3m property is a home away from home when you’re in need of some serious relaxation.
It’s the latest local haven to open its doors in the seaside city and it’s making quite the splash. High profile names frequently indulge themselves in overnight stays at 28 Degrees Byron Bay, but its private rooms and garden surrounds offer the utmost anonymity, perfect for those wanting a secluded getaway. You won’t find flashy lights or big signs here, because 28 Degrees Byron Bay is a retreat, and it's removed from the hustle and bustle of everyday life for an uninterrupted stay.
Owners Debbie and Lindon Garske are proud of the ‘barefoot luxury’ experience they’ve created, piecing together each delicate detail to reflect their own tastes. Debbie is meticulous, and there’s a good reason for it. “We’ve personally tested every single aspect of each individual room to ensure it suits and works with our style, but more importantly, that it offers optimum comfort and relaxation so that our guests can enjoy a luxurious stay. If I wouldn’t personally eat it, sleep in it or use it, it’s not in our rooms.”
Debbie and Lindon are habitual with their own travels and know what to expect when it comes to hotels and luxury getaways, so they’re passionate about offering a comfortable stay that is balanced with indulgence, familiarity and laid back features. Whilst Debbie is a private person herself, her background in interior design speaks loudly at 28 Degrees Byron Bay, evident throughout each room with vintage copper bathroom fittings, block-out curtains, a range of creative books to relax with, and my personal favourite – no televisions.
In an increasingly digital age, it may sound ludicrous, but Debbie’s decision to create a peaceful and non-invasive environment is what sets 28 Degrees Byron Bay apart. “A weekend away should be about connecting with your travel partner, whether that’s your husband or wife, children or friends; taking the time out to connect with one another without TV, without the internet and without interruptions, is absolutely necessary every now and again. As a society, we don’t ‘unplug’ often enough, so we’ve designed each room without TV’s to encourage couples to engage with each other, and to give solo travellers the chance to disconnect from the ‘busy’ of life.”
It’s the finer details at 28 Degrees Byron Bay that have established a new degree of holiday indulgence, raising the bar in the five-star luxury market. Debbie has also applied a holistic and health-conscious approach to design, fitting the entire property and each plunge pool with Grander Water, a natural chemical-free revitalizing filtration system from Austria which restores the water’s energy and vitality, making it more pleasurable for drinking and better for bathing to leave the skin feeling softer and the body more hydrated. The in-room flooring is made from RUBIO-stained French Oak which is finished with a non-toxic low USO coating, and each aesthetic detail is sourced from Fair Trade artisans or local handmade labels. Plush Sealy Posturepedic Crown Jewel beds are completed with custom made pillows and Cultiver pure linen soft sheets, and the complimentary minibar is stocked with local produce, organic goods and healthy options for a nourishing start to the day. Even the coffee is roasted locally in Byron Bay and the Mayde Tea on offer has naturopathic and healing properties… 28 Degrees Byron Bay has created a relaxing, re-energizing and luxurious retreat like no other.
If you’re in need of a little down time, a weekend away together to reconnect, or simply just want to indulge yourself, be selfish and switch off, book your stay at 28 Degrees Byron Bay.
