Saturday night in: Getting old or growing wise?

I seem to have hit a milestone in my life; instead of being half way through a bottle of wine at 9pm on a Saturday night, pouncing around the house to Ministry of Sound compilations mid-way through my makeup, I have begun spending the odd (and even) Saturday night in.

I won’t lie, I actually love a good veg-out night in, but I’ve been facing a heavy mental debate about aging every time it happens lately, and as thrilling as takeaway Grill’d and couch dates with The Mummy is, it’s less than glamorous. I keep telling myself that as soon as Season 3 of The 100 returns, it’s going to get slightly better, but even still, it’s pretty drab.
So what is it? Is it old age, wisdom, or a little bit of both that keeps me in on what is meant to be the wildest night out of the week? Whatever the reason, a quick flick through Instagram continually restores my faith in the beauty of a Saturday night in, and I can now veg-out in ease knowing that I share it with some of the best…

Perth based stylists Bec and Jules of Style Me Peachy make a Saturday night in look stunning: “Couch, cocktails and oh so cold. Not moving far tonight… have a fab one ladies!” @stylemepeachy

Sebastien Fougere of Sticks and Stones Agency stays in in style, sporting a fluffy pink robe, necessary nighttime shades, and a particularly healthy Saturday night stir fry sitting pretty in the background. @sebastienfougere

Amber Sceats, purveyor of fine jewels, is undoubtedly spending Saturday night in with such a post: “Saturday night…”, and if I do say so myself, Saturday nights have never looked so good. @ambersceats

Ruby Tuesday Matthews enjoys the best Saturday night in of all, with a bun in the oven and a careful eye counting down the clock. @rubytuesdaymatthews

And of course, yours faithfully, The Fashion Advocate, spending this fine Saturday night in doing what I do best: drinking wine, drooling over the pages of the latest Vogue, wearing my boyfriend jeans and dream-dream-dreaming. @thefashionadvocate

P.S. Don’t bother checking out what Linda Tol, How Two Live, Suzy Menkes or Yiota Kouzoukas are doing tonight, because their sunshine and seaside-filled, perfectly assembled snapshots of European and island Summers will sink you even further into the couch.
