Cindy Newstead grew up surrounded by fashion. From a young age, she was influenced by her mother to value a polished appearance and always dress up for the occasion, so it was a natural progression for Cindy to follow a path into styling.
Now, she’s styled more than 7500 clients and has over 17 years’ experience in the industry spanning her two businesses, The Professional Styling Academy and Style With Cindy, both of which are renowned Australia wide. Whilst styling may be mysterious and misunderstood to some, it’s an essential ingredient in the fashion world, and blogs, magazines, runways and photo shoots can’t exist without the hands of a stylist pulling each outfit into place. It’s fast-paced and high-pressure, but styling is worth it for Cindy.
“My role as Owner and Style Director of Style With Cindy and The Professional Styling Academy is an intensive one, and no two days are the same. I am either facilitating in the training of upcoming stylists at The Professional Styling Academy, shopping with clients, working on blogs and editorials, or mentoring stylists within Style With Cindy. I am also the stylist for Chadstone and Glen Shopping Centre, so I am always busy or working towards the next opportunity.”
As busy as her average week sounds, there are many moments of peace for Cindy, and it’s the personal nature of her job that fuels her passion. Cindy offers a service that improves the lives of others through personal styling, and her courses are practical and hands-on in a supportive and encouraging environment.
“I am passionate about helping the everyday person view themselves differently, and I am passionate about transforming people on the inside. I see the potential in someone when they can’t see it for themselves and it’s rewarding to help someone gain confidence and be seen simply by what they are wearing. Having a strong compassion for others is a strength, so whether I am working with clients myself, or training stylists to have that compassion and strength, I know the message is getting out there to the everyday person and making real change.”
