I launched The Fashion Advocate in 2014 in support of Australian made labels, and to encourage consumers to shop consciously. In 2018, I welcomed New Zealand labels to the mix, and in 2019, I opened up our online offering to Australian-designed labels who manufacture ethically overseas.

Now that our online community is home to more than 70 ethical and sustainable Australian and New Zealand labels, a few things have changed and we've definitely grown, but one thing has stayed the same: my values.

Supporting local labels has such an incredible impact, and when you shop local, you're not just 'buying something', you're supporting someone. It's about looking after our neighbours, supporting our local shop keepers, and making our local community stronger by supporting each other.

Now, more than ever, it's time to dig deep and support each other, and when we come out of this mess, I hope we can continue supporting each other.

The next time you need to buy something, buy something Australian, and if you're ready to overhaul that fast fashion wardrobe and start shopping ethically, support our incredibly talented community of designers, makers and creators. They don't follow trends or make 'things' for the sake of it. Their labels are an extension of themselves; a story of their passion and every garment symbolises a little piece of what they believe in.

We are #bettertogether and at The Fashion Advocate, we stand together for ethical fashion, good fashion, and fashion that connects our community.

I want you to experience Australian fashion at its best, so we've just joined the #wewearaustralian campaign, an initiative to raise awareness of those in the fashion industry impacted by the global situation at hand, and unite the industry to contribute to the rebuild of our community.

If you shop during April, checkout with the code WWA10 and I'll give you 10% off, plus a free reusable tote and free postage when you spend over $100. I'll also donate 5% of our sales to Dress For Success Sydney, and you'll get the warm and fuzzies of supporting someone local. It's a win-win.
