Thrumka is designed and ethically made in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Thrumka is an independent Sydney based label, passionate about designing original print patterns with a story to tell. The brand’s unique prints are combined with quality natural fabrics and easy-to-wear silhouettes that are made in Sydney, Australia.
Thrumka’s original patterns are inspired by all things industrial, with a particular affection for the abandoned and forgotten. The brand incorporates offbeat references inspired by the local surroundings of its creators, such as abandoned factories and recently rejuvenated inner-city parklands. Each Thrumka pattern starts as a hand-drawn artwork that is evolved into a repeating textile print.
Thrumka produces in very small runs (sometimes only 10 of a colourway at a time) to trial the popularity of garment styles, fit, colourway and print design. This ensures the brand only makes what will sell. The range is locally made in Sydney’s inner west, ensuring the quality and craftsmanship of every piece.
Thrumka uses both screen printing and digital inkjet printing in its range. Screen printed textiles are produced in Sydney by the brand owners using in water-based inks in their own local studio. Digitally printed textiles are printed in Indonesia with a printer that specialises in low water usage inkjet printing, Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Certified inks, and printing on natural fibers. All fabrics used by Thrumka are biodegradable cellulose fibers, including cotton, cupro, lyocell, and rayon.
