I have hundreds of moments from my first five years in business that all look the same. Me, hunched over my laptop, my heart sinking, my order dashboard empty, staring at my Instagram feed, desperately wanting my latest post to do something. I was so completely and utterly stuck.

I poured my heart and soul into my business. I had the mission, the ethics, the passion, the drive to change the industry—everything slow fashion should stand for.

I’d post beautiful photos, spend hours on creating the perfect video, I'd carefully craft captions and edit and edit and edit, and try all the 'growth hacks' that gurus swore by. But my sales? Crickets.

And it was a daily struggle, especially in my own head. 

Was my business not good enough to support?
Did I need thousands more followers to actually make money?
Was I just... not cut out for this?

It was frustrating and exhausting, and worst of all, I started doubting myself.

I felt like my only options to grow were hard-sell tactics that felt gross and misaligned with my values, or paid ads that I couldn’t afford, or giving up on Instagram—and possibly even the business—altogether.

None of those were the options I really wanted. I knew I could work it out. I knew I was doing something good. I knew I was destined for more that just being another failed business statistic. 

So I stopped guessing. I dug deep. I tested, experimented, and reworked everything.
And what I found changed everything.

I realised I could make sales without the sleazy sales tactics.

I realised sales don’t happen with thousands of followers on Instagram—they happen because of connection and trust.

I realised that slow fashion isn’t like fast fashion—so we can’t sell the same way.

I realised people don’t buy products. They buy stories, values, and impact.

And once I shifted my approach to align with my values, everything changed. My life, my businesseverything changed.

My audience felt seen and heard, my engagement increased and became real conversations, and—most importantly—sales started coming in effortlessly.
