Running a slow fashion business can be tough and it can be tiring, especially if it's your side hustle and you're juggling another job. Being in business is no easy feat, let's be honest. I've had too many conversations with designers this week who are scarily close to burnout, so if you're nearly there, you're not alone.
But burnout isn't the only challenge when you're running a business, and on a day-to-day basis, there's a lot to think about. Sourcing, money, your customers, orders, marketing, social media, paying this bill, paying that bill... It's a long list.
If you don't have a clear strategy in place or support to juggle the workload, it's a list that never gets ticked off. One job turns into one million and the next thing you know, you're so overwhelmed by everything that needs to be done - that you do nothing.
It's a place I don't want you to be, and I know you don't want to be there either, and it's why I do what I do at The Fashion Advocate. I've been there, I've done that, and I've seen too many founders stuck on the mouse wheel chasing their tails just to survive.
But I've worked out a better way to do business and I want to share it with you.
I'm all about slow fashion for its positive environmental impact, but I also care about slow business, and it's a method of doing business that brings you joy while you increase your impact and increase your sales at the same time. It's about growing a business in a manageable way that you love to run, and isn't that the reason you got into business in the first place - to wake up and do something every day that you love?
If you're struggling, I want you to know that you don't have to struggle in silence. Running a slow fashion business is meant to be fun and it's meant to bring you joy, and if you're not getting that out of your business - reach out to me. I'm here to help.
My private one-on-one slow fashion business consulting and strategy sessions are a great way to break the habits that are holding you back, clear the fog, and create a roadmap to move forward with ease.
