I couldn’t help myself. With all the hype surrounding the release of Fifty Shades of Grey on screen, I just had to put a fashion spin on it. Fifty Shades of Grey is the first in a set of three from novelist EL James, and since its launch in 2011 as an e-book with independent Australian publishers, Writer’s Coffee Shop, the Fifty Shades saga has sparked many a dinner conversation.
Following the book’s hard copy release with publishing giant, Vintage, Fifty Shades of Grey climaxed at over 100m copies sold worldwide (at a rate of two per second), and the title has now spent over 100 weeks on the New York Times best seller list.
The release of the film has sparked a mixed debate of its page-to-screen portrayal, but regardless of your lust or lacklustre for it, this is one trilogy that is set to keep things sizzling for a few seasons to come.
