If you’ve been following The Fashion Advocate for a while now, you would have seen a photo of me in a pink faux fur coat pop up from time to time. It’s a stand-out coat; it's loud, it's fluffy, it's large.
I believe every woman deserves to have that one piece in her wardrobe that she doesn't necessarily wear often, but when it comes out, by George does it turn heads.
Gun Shy’s luxurious faux fur coats do precisely that, and I'm not the only fan; Kate Ceberano, Em Rusciano, Conchita Wurst, Violet Chachki and Clairy Browne are all members of Gun Shy club too.
Designer Kathryn Jamieson has a way with faux fur that can only be described as deluxe. Her handmade jackets and stoles are the epitome of glamour; they are opulent, sculptural, imposing and technically brilliant.
The latest Gun Shy collection, Cirque De Merde, has just arrived it all its fluffy glory, and it is the most dramatic range yet from the Melbourne made label. Over the top and all kinds of crazy, Cirque De Merde makes one hell of a statement, inspired by the goth-pop movement, aliens and clowns.
It’s not your average winter collection (and not your ordinary source of inspiration either), but that’s the essence of Gun Shy and what Kathryn Jamieson is all about – nonconformity and self-expression. She treads a fine line between fashion and art and balances that line ever so beautifully.
If you're going to invest in one beautifully exorbitant statement piece, make it a Gun Shy, and you'll own it for life. My personal favourite is the ‘Mommie Dearest Jacket' in powder pink from the AW17 collection, but I’m sure you’ll find something to fall in love with from the Cirque De Merde AW18 range. Each piece is delicately handmade in Fitzroy by Kathryn herself with ‘immense, fierce love.’
