I love learning. I love growing. I love levelling up. We get one shot at this thing called life and I love making the most of it, so I'm open to it all. It's been a big month at The Fashion Advocate and there's been a lot of lessons and a lot of learnings and a lot of incredible community-driven magic inside the Slow Fashion Circle. Here's what I learnt this month...
Community is everything.
There were quite a few moments this month that reminded me of the power of community. We’ve lost it as a society. We’re so isolated and lost in the hustle and bustle that we’ve forgotten what community means and why it’s so important to support each other. That’s exactly why I run the Slow Fashion Circle - because when you’re running a slow fashion business, you need a community, you need a support network, and occasionally (actually pretty often) you need help. And that’s ok. It’s ok to need help and that’s what this community is for.
Do it now.
That's the motto I'm using at the moment, do it now, and instead of adding things to my notes on my phone or a list on my desk or filling up my brain with clutter, I'm doing things straight away and getting sh*t done. Try it with me and say it to yourself the next time you want to put something off. Just do it now.
Ask and you shall receive.
I've always known it but I’ve been reminded recently and I want to remind you too. If you need help, ask. If you want to collaborate with a brand, ask. If you want to reach out to an influencer, do it. Ask and you shall receive. Don't let fear hold you back!
There is no such thing as normal.
There’s no such thing as normal and there’s no right or wrong way to do this crazy thing called life while you’re running a slow fashion business. The juggle is real. The struggle is real. The to-do list is long. There are good days and there are bad days. But you know what makes it all a little easier? The right support network and a bloody good community. If you don't have one, come and join the Slow Fashion Circle and find the support you need when things feel not so normal.
You already know everything you need to know.
It’s easy to sign up for all the free things, join all the webinars, follow fifty different business coaches and spend hours trawling the internet for answers. But the fact is - you already know everything you need to know. What you need to do, is focus. Unsubscribe to anything that doesn’t align with your values, block out the noise, choose one source of information (obviously I’d love that to be the Slow Fashion Circle) and focus on yourself and your innate wisdom for a while. Deep down, you have everything inside you to make this work. You just need to pair that innate wisdom with a strategy, and that’s why you’ve found me.
