What do you want to be remembered for?

What do you want to be remembered for? Your shoe collection? Your bank balance? How many sales you made? Or do you want to be remembered for the impact you had on the world?

When I’m 90 and sitting back in my rocking chair sipping tea and watching trashy daytime television, I want to look at the wall next to me and see my achievements, but not the sales and business kind. Maybe there’ll be a photo of an endangered species I helped save. Maybe there’ll be a photo of smiling families from a disadvantaged community I somehow helped in a rural area of a third world country. Maybe the biggest framed achievement will be my family at the beach and the sand is clean because I helped inspire the world to change the state of ocean plastics.

Whatever those frames are filled with, I know I'll be proud of those moments and achievements, and I want to know I contributed to something bigger than just me or just my bank balance.

I want to be proud of the impact I had, the positive changes I made, and the good human I became, but that takes time. It takes a lifetime of little moments stacked on top of each other and I’m doing the work now, little by little, blog post by blog post.

It’s why I launched The Fashion Advocate over ten years ago. And even though my business started as a blog and grew into one of Australia's largest online stores for ethical and sustainable fashion, and even though I pivoted to an online education and course platform, my mission has always remained the same: to make the world a better place through fashion.

I used to inspire customers to use their shopping habits to change the world for the better, now I want to inspire fashion businesses to use their power and influence as a force for good. I want to empower more fashion business founders to operate ethically and sustainably. I want to create social and environmental change on a global scale – and I’m doing it through business.

My name is Claire Goldsworthy and I was put on this earth to make it a better place, and this blog is a running journal of my journey, my passion for positive change, and my offering to you. I want to help you grow your fashion business so you can use it to make the world a better place through fashion.

Welcome to a new decade for The Fashion Advocate. This is going to be big.

I was exhausted and I wanted to quit.

Then I worked out a strategy that dramatically changed my business, increased my sales, and saved me time. I want to share it with you!
