Art meets millinery with Letitia Green and Carla Murley

Celebrating their love of vibrant colour, textures and sculptural design, multi-disciplinary artist Letitia Green and milliner Carla Murley have joined creative forces on an eight-piece collection of bespoke headpieces, arriving just in time for the Victorian Spring Racing carnival.

The collection is hand crafted, combining vibrant designs from Letitia Greens’ Australian made silk scarf collection, with floral features and exquisite details at the hand of milliner Carla Murley. Inspired by the beauty of nature, their coastal bayside surrounds and a love of sculptured wearable art pieces, the collection is a reflection of the designers’ own styles and aesthetics. Each piece makes a striking and sophisticated statement, perfect for Melbourne’s upcoming Spring Carnival events.

Both Murley and Green focus on sustainable design and are conscious of the environment, whilst also appealing to those who treasure ethically made and unique one-off pieces.Letitia Green’s design talents are known on the global stage; her concept silk scarf label is ethically made in Australia but has recently shown at New York Fashion Week. The collection celebrates life and nature, calm and chaos and the pure beauty in the world, combining traditional hand illustrated artwork, painting, collage and digital design.

Carla Murley’s millinery prowess is just as celebrated; following her highly successful millinery debut in 2012, she’s since featured in Vogue Australia and The Age, and in 2014 also was named as one of Melbourne’s ‘Top Ten Milliners’ by the Herald Sun. Her strong graphic designs are mixed with playful organic shapes and textures, focusing on a balance of sustainable and man-made materials. It seems an only-natural collaboration between the two and the finished product is show-stopping.
