Soxy Beast is a monthly Melbourne-based sock subscription service with a difference, transforming the once humble sock into a must have accessory for the fashion savvy, all whilst demonstrating how the fashion industry can be used as a vessel to promote social change.
A creative experiment from designers Jeff and Ali, Soxy Beast is built largely on a shared passion for supporting charities, investing in Australian textiles and sharing in the joy of collaboration. Working directly with local residents, Soxy Beast transforms otherwise 2D art work into wearable, tangible 3D items, showcasing the talent of some of Australia’s most innovative and unique artists in an entirely new medium – socks.
100% Australian owned, designed and made, Soxy Beast socks are also manufactured in Melbourne, and the company doesn’t stop there when it comes to putting the right foot forward; 10 percent of each sale is donated to a charity, project or initiative nominated by the artists themselves.
For just $15 a month, subscribers to Soxy Beast receive a bold and funky new pair of socks in their postbox, each including the story behind the current design and information on the charity it is supporting. This month features designs from The Social Studio, an organsiation dedicated to improving the lives of young Australians who have experienced a barrier to accessing education or employment due to having a refugee or migrant background.
Throughout March, 10 percent of all new subscriptions and sales of the three featured designs will support the Social Studio’s community art programs, allowing more students to explore a career in fashion or design.
